donelog.dev

Beta guide

Getting started

donelog keeps a private record of the work you ship on GitHub and writes your quarter’s self-review from it. Setting up takes about ten minutes; after that, one command brings your record up to date whenever you like.

What you need

Set it up

  1. Sign in at app.donelog.dev with GitHub.
  2. In a terminal:
    npm install -g @donelog/cli
    donelog login
    donelog sync
donelog login opens your browser to link this laptop to your account. donelog sync reads GitHub through gh and sends the conclusions.
  3. Back in the app, your quarter fills in once the sync lands. Ask for the quarter’s review, read it, and export it as Markdown if it’s useful.

donelog doctor checks everything donelog needs and says how to fix what’s missing. Run donelog sync again whenever you want the record brought up to date.

What leaves your laptop

Conclusions only. For each pull request or review worth keeping: its repository and number, its title and dates, the GitHub handles involved, why it was flagged, and the note Claude Code wrote about it. Your code, diffs, pull request descriptions and GitHub token stay on your laptop. The privacy page has the full list.

What it costs

Nothing, for donelog, during the beta. The notes run on your own Claude Code, so each sync uses some of your Claude plan or API credits. donelog config shows the current settings and what they cost, donelog config --effort low reads less, and donelog config --no-summarise turns the notes off: detection only, no model, no cost.

Feedback

Send feedback, at the bottom of the app’s sidebar, opens the beta’s Discord. Or write to hello@donelog.dev. Where you got stuck and what the review got wrong are the most useful things to hear.

It’s a beta

Things will break, and if we ever have to reset the service, everything stored in it is deleted. A sync rebuilds your record from GitHub; notes you wrote in the app and reviews would have to be written again.

Leaving

To delete your account and everything donelog stores for it, write to privacy@donelog.dev from the email address on your GitHub account. On each laptop, donelog dev reset --yes removes the link and everything donelog keeps there.
